Meet Jessica Torres – she’s a strong communicator and an experienced senior account strategist in digital transformation, who’s always looking to learn something new!
When Jess isn’t helping our clients smash their digital goals, you’ll find her sweating it out at the gym or enjoying a relaxing beach walk with her Husky, Clint.
Q&A with Jessica:
What is your role at Kwasi?
I’m a Senior Account Strategist here at Kwasi. So, essentially my role is to look after multiple clients and be that conduit for Kwasi and the client. This is also paired with playing a key role shaping the client’s overall digital strategy and ensuring their business goals have been met month by month and year by year.
What do you like most about working in an agency?
‘I like being able to collaborate with clients within different disciplines – something that you wouldn’t normally get at organisations.’
Definitely the people! Everyone here is an expert in their own field, which not only makes it easier to learn from them, but also to devise new strategies. I also like being able to collaborate with clients within different disciplines – something that you wouldn’t normally get when you’re working for an organisation.

What did you do before Kwasi?
Before Kwasi, I was a marketing coordinator for a construction equipment hire company. I looked over all of the digital aspects of the website and also communicated with a marketing agency to help with PPC and Adwords, as well as a website rebuild. Prior to that I was at an electronics company down at Lonsdale and that was my first foot in the door where I learnt all about online and offline marketing.
Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?
You would probably find me either at the gym, walking my Husky Clint, or just chilling out with my partner watching the latest Netflix shows!

What’s something new you’re learning at the moment?
At the moment I’m taking a leadership course which is going to help me become a better leader and mentor for new people who come on board at Kwasi. This will also assist me with developing my skills in account management and be a better communicator within different team environments.
Also, I recently took an Asian cooking class class at Sticky Rice Cooking School. They will invite the head chef from different restaurants, for example, the head chef from Peel Street was instructing us. It was quite interesting, we learnt all these different techniques like how to cut squid and that sort of thing.
Who is your hero or role model?
I don’t really have a hero per se, but I would say my parents are my biggest role models because they came to this country to start a better life. They moved from Ecuador by themselves, not knowing anyone and starting from scratch, all to create a better life for us kids.
What is your favourite part of your job?
‘I’m constantly learning different skill sets and improving my communication.’
I love getting to work with different clients every day because each day is different and challenging. I’m constantly learning different skill sets and improving my communication. But, I also like working with the amazing team that we have here.
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you?
I’m always losing my things and finding they always come back to me. It’s like I have this weird angel on my shoulder that looks after me. I’ve lost things like wallets at the shopping mall and one time I left all my belongings including my passport and money in a taxi.
I would say the weirdest thing was last year when me and my partner went to the Fringe Festival and the next day I realised that my Fitbit was missing. I thought I’d never see it again, until my friend Helen messaged me saying, ‘hey this is going to be a bit weird, but did you lose your Fitbit’. This was all because her friend who was visiting from Melbourne found it and noticed the last message was from Helen. I was just blown away – what are the chances of that!
